Other outreaches include Children’s Justice Initiative to serve orphans and children at risk. We are partnering with Women’s Life Center, a local crisis pregnancy center helping women who refuse abortion and choose life. In the future we plan to provide homes and restoration programs for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, and prostitutes who respond to the gospel.

Celebrating Twenty Years of 24/7 Prayer with Worship

Former church officials and members described to Military.com how its leadership pushed service members and veterans to give their pay and benefits. In some cases, the church pressured its members to cut off ties to their families and either move into the church or provide full-time labor without pay. This article is part of our prayer resources meant to inspire and encourage your prayer life when you face uncertain times.

We refer to our full-time staff at the International House of Prayer as “intercessory missionaries.” They raise their own support to work as full-time missionaries who reach out to others from a lifestyle of prayer and worship. Today, about 2,000 believers (staff, students, and interns) serve full-time, investing fifty hours per week, as they go from the prayer room to the classroom and then to ministry outreaches and works of service. Also, as those who are committed to the forerunner message, we are spiritually equipping ourselves to prepare others for the unique dynamics of the generation in which the Lord returns. Around 1000 BC, King David established a tabernacle in Jerusalem and set a precedent of night and day worship before the Lord that continued at various times throughout Israel and Judah’s history. Each time this order of worship was reintroduced, spiritual breakthrough, deliverance and military victory followed. Likewise, throughout the centuries, groups in Ireland, Germany, South Korea, and elsewhere across the globe have established day and night centers of prayer and worship.

We take seriously the mandate to train believers to love Jesus and others wholeheartedly, as together we go forth to preach the Word, heal the sick, serve the poor, plant houses of prayer, and proclaim the return of Jesus across the earth. After receiving specific direction from the Lord, Mike called churches in Kansas City to a 21-day solemn assembly of prayer and fasting. During that time, the Lord gave a prophetic word to do “24/7 prayer in the spirit of the tabernacle of David.” This birthed 16 years of prayer meetings held three times per day at the church Mike was pastoring. He now says the word was the continuation of what he had first heard in the hotel in Cairo eight months earlier, that the two words are linked.

Prayer was a heartbeat for Paul’s ministry and it is meant to be ours as well. God’s heart for his place of worship was that it would be characterized by prayer. There are a lot of things we think of when we think about going to church but is prayer the first thing that pops into our minds. Offers priests a prayerful respite from daily ministerial activity.

New IHOPU Campus

Lenny and Tracy La Guardia led the first Children’s Equipping Center camp just outside Kansas City. They’ve since grown to hosting multiple camps each summer and have seen camps established across the US and internationally in places like Poland. A few of the children who attended that first camp in 2002 are part of our staff today as worship leaders, singers, and musicians. We hosted the first Onething conference in January 2002 at the Kansas City Convention Center with several thousand worshipers. For the next 16 years, we were blessed to host an average of 20,000 young people who gathered in person and online to encounter God through extended times of worship, teaching of the Word, and ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit. The IHOPKC community exists to partner in the Great Commission by advancing 24/7 prayer with worship and proclaiming the beauty of Jesus and His glorious return.

We pray for all who enter and patronize this temple, that they may receive sacred blessings and remain worthy and faithful to their covenants made here. We pray also that this may be a house of peace, a house of comfort and a house of personal revelation for all who enter these doors worthily. We ask Thee to bless those who seek to understand the power with which they are endowed here to receive knowledge from on high. Across Italy there are houses of prayer run by the Ricostruttori (Reconstructors) community, a Catholic movement dedicated to people who are far from the Church but attracted to spirituality, particularly Eastern meditation and Buddhist practices. When God described His meeting place, He used the phrase “house of prayer.” Prayer in Jewish culture and Hebrew word meaning wasn’t just a laundry list of wishes or a heavenly “honey-do” list.

Its headquarters were in Washington Court House, Ohio—where a church still met as of 2014[update]. The prayer room was moved from the trailer on Grandview Road into the remodeled Red Bridge Center, bringing a much-needed addition of space and amenities. The new prayer room was dedicated on March 7, 2003, and continues today as the Global Prayer Room (GPR). Higher Grounds, led by Beth Stone, opened its doors late in 2001. In 2002, Dennis and Paula Bowers moved to Kansas City, and Dennis took up the position of leading the café— which offers coffee, tea, smoothies, and a variety of baked goods and food.

Our vision is to prepare thousands of full-time intercessory missionaries who, like John the Baptist, live a lifestyle of discipline and devotion to God, whose lives and voices cry out, “Prepare the way of the Lord! ” We invite you to visit the prayer room in person or join us online via the free live webstream. Join with us as we set our hearts to love God, worship Him alone, and dedicate our lives to serving Him without reservation; to demonstrate our love for others in works of service, justice, outreach, and compassion; and to proclaim the return of Jesus. On May 7, 1999, the International House of Prayer began in the “old trailers” on Grandview Road, with 13 hours of prayer and worship each day.

We expanded our setup to seven cameras and our schedule to full-time streaming. The webstream is available online and through apps for tablets and smartphones. The prayer room webstream began with only one camera in 2003, exposing worship with prayer to a global audience.

Mike initially didn’t believe Bob, but two weeks later it was confirmed to him that Bob, in fact, had heard from the Lord. Bob, who passed away in 2014, played a pivotal role in encouraging Mike during the early years of the movement and was a great friend to IHOPKC. Some former IHOPKC members have said the church was coercive and cult-like; the church has stated that it’s elder-led, has checks in place for leaders, and is committed to safety against sexual, emotional, physical, and spiritual abuse. Staff at IHOPKC number around 2,000, all full-time missionaries who raise their own support, according to the ministry website.

That benefit has long been considered sacrosanct as both a top recruiting tool and largely seen on Capitol Hill as one of the federal government's most successful programs. Prosecutors are demanding the church provide a roster of its owners, employees and students and all money paid to the church from the VA. The Lord’s intent for the temple was that it would be a joyful place where all people communed together with their God and that they would all share one another’s joy.

When Jesus arrived at the temple, people’s eyes were narrowly and fearfully fixed on Pharisaical approval and interpretation of Scripture. It is perhaps easy to take for granted that the Bible tells us “in God’s presence there is joy.” But I think one of the things that so angered Jesus was the way the religious leaders had twisted the means and outcome of God’s presence. We ought to ask Him to open our eyes to opportunities to join Him in the work of stitching unity, peace, and love between people groups.
